History:
This blue stone was appearantly known by egyptians, eventhough it is not guaranteed that the stone they knew was lapis lazuli. Its name comes from Persia, and it means "blue stone". It's said to be the stone of the sovereings and it is closely related to divinities. It is the result of transforming limestone into marmol and iron, which is why the lapis lazuli has golden pyrite specks.
